Mera Peak is a beautiful mountain peak in Nepal from which you can have a wonderful view on Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyo. Despite the height of 6476 meters, Mera Peak is quite easy to climb for almost everybody who has basic climbing skills. The only difficulty is that there are several long walking passes up to 8 hours each. Climbing Mera Peak is similar to climbing Mount Elbrus from the north, except for the fact that there are two base camps on Mera, one is at the height of 5300 m, while the second one is at 5800 m, with the glacier in between. For that you need the experience of walking in a group tied by a rope.
Before you start the ascent you are to have proper acclimation. You will need some special clothes and equipment, and if you don't have anything it's possible to hire all necessary items in Kathmandu prior to the tour. You will also get the profound information and advice from our experienced guides and instructors.
You start the ascent at 2 am from Base Camp 2, which is at the height of 5800 m, and it usually takes 8 hours to reach the top of Mera Peak depending on the speed of the group.

Guest houses / lodges on the trek
All the way on the trek you sleep and eat in simple guest houses (or lodges) made of wood or stone. Usually these lodges have 10-15 rooms; each room is for 2 guests. Rooms are separated by thin walls. The main area of a lodge is a restaurant which is also serves a reception and a recreation room for trekkers who spend evenings there after a hard walking day. A room with a bathroom is a bit more expensive than a room without it; bathroom is often a common bathroom with 5-7 cabins. In Khare there are no lodges with attached bathroom rooms and there are no shower rooms either. In these places you can buy a bucket of hot water to wash.
Porters
They are usually the Nepalese of one of the ethnicities living in the mountains – Sherpas, Tamangi, Manangi, Gurungi or others. In guest houses porters stay in special rooms for porters; sometimes it's a different lodge, not the one where tourists stay. The money you pay to a porter includes the costs of his food and accommodation on the trek, so you don't need to invite him to eat with you.
