Mt. Elbrus: Climb and Ski Tour
Mount Elbrus is one of the Seven Summits and the highest mountain in Europe. Its western peak reaches 5642 meters, while the eastern peak is slightly lower at 5621 meters. Mount Elbrus is a dormant volcano located between the Black and Caspian Seas in the Russian Federation, just 20km from bordering Georgia. The last eruption occurred about 2000 years ago. The two peaks of Mt. Elbrus are remnants of the volcano's craters, with solidified lava visible on the slopes.
About us
The company Elbrus Tours has been organising mountaineering trips to Mount Elbrus and other peaks in the world since 2009. We are licensed by the Federal Tourism Agency of Russia as an inbound and outbound tour operator (Licence No. RTO 016287).
We also operate several hotels and mountaineering camps in both the South and North Elbrus regions and can offer you a variety of accommodation options. We have over 20 multilingual guides. This allows us to offer private tours for groups or join one of our 150 guaranteed departures for the 2025 season (in July and August our tours starts daily).
For international companies and guides
In accordance with Russian legislation, only Russian travel companies are permitted to organize commercial tours within the country. We offer special partnership opportunities to travel companies worldwide, assisting in the organization of tours for foreign groups or in adding participants to our scheduled international group tours.
Entry to Russia
From 1 January 2021, citizens of 60 countries will be able to enter Russia without a visa.
Citizens of 55 other countries, including Andorra, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China (including Taiwan), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, North Korea, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Myanmar, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Myanmar, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Vatican City and Vietnam can apply for an e-visa. This visa costs $52 and allows entry for up to 15 days. Applications must be submitted on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs no earlier than 40 days and no later than 4 days before the intended date of entry into Russia.

● Change of tour date 1-29 days before departure: $50 penalty
● Cancellation 1-29 days prior to departure: $100 penalty

Dear Irina, This is to thank you for all the arrangements you did for our recent Elbrus Climb, 11th to 18th August 2019. I am also sorry that we couldn't meet in person. Your base-camp team at Terskol is wonderful. The caring, helping and loving attitude of Anastasia is worthy of appreciation. The very wonderful gift by her on my birthday was beyond any thing. Her other team at rentals and office was very efficient. The accommodation and food arrangements both at Terskol and summit camp was good. The reception and pick-up at Mineralnye Vody airport was a big relief for us in a foreign country. Our Trek Guide, Dana, was very efficient and helping. Her guidance made the climb easier for all our team-mates. I also must thank you for a very efficient team on slopes for the acclimatization and summit climbs. Although I could not summit myself, you made my Elbrus climb a memorable event, witch I shall cherish throughout my life. With all this, I shall always recommend Elbrus Tours to all my trekking friends. Thanks again and with regards.

Also, Filipencko (our guide) took extremely good care of us on the mountain and helped to make the climb truly memorable in our short time-frame. I hiked with Andrey this September and he is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. As a guide he is very strong and knowledgeable - his friendliness is also legendary. "There was a lot of uncertainly leading up to this climb of Elbrus. Back in February there were a couple terrorist incidents reported in the news. Three Russian skiers were killed and others injured when their van was stopped by armed men on the way to the Mt Elbrus ski area. An explosion on Elbrus brought down some gondola cars on the ski lift. The government responded by engaging and killing terrorists in a battle near the mountain. The mountain was closed for a few weeks and then reopened. Things then stayed quiet in the area. Just weeks before we were to leave for Elbrus the mountain was closed again. There had not been any new incidents to trigger this closing. Only the onset of summer.
Meanwhile we had our visas, paid for plane tickets and arranged and paid for tours of Moscow and St Petersburg. Cancelling the trip entirely was not a reasonable option for us. Even if we couldn’t go to the mountain we were going to Russia. But we did want to climb..." Read the the report

We are already in our usual lifes, you know, working, family, children, friends and so on. Elbrus seems to be very far and long now. Nevertheless we want to thank you and the whole team of your company for your good organisation and professionality.
