Additional activities in Elbrus region
There are a lot of things to do and to see in Elbrus region before or after the climb.
The main activities are located in Baksan valley (southern slope of Mount Elbrus) and in town of Kislovodsk which is located 50 km to the South from Mineralnye Vody.
Baksan valley
Here you can visit banya or sauna, numerous cafes and restaurants. You can hire a mountain bike, do fishing and trekking. In August many berries ripen in forest: strawberry, blueberry, red bilberry...
Town of Kislovodsk
This popular SPA-town is located 50 km to the South from Mineralnye Vody by road and only 65 km from Mount Elbrus in a straightline. So, when you ascent to the highest point of Kislovodsk (using gondola lift or by walking) you can see Elbrus just in front of you.
Kislovodsk is a lovely town with a huge park, mineral springs, baths, nice buildings built by English, Belgian and Italian architectors. Great Russian poets Pushkin and Lermontov used to visit this town.
Famous opera singer Shalyapin gave here concerts for the Russian Bohemia...
Rock climbing in Kislovodsk
If you are a rock climber or just want to try, you'll love it! There is a rocky canyon next to Kislovodsk with more than 70 rock climbing routes of different difficulty. We can organize transfers, rock climbing equipment, instructor services and lunch with a
beautiful view on the top of this canyon.
We also do full-day Jeep safaris to the Northern slopes of Mt. Elbrus. You'll see wild nature, huge rocky canyons, waterfalls, mineral springs, white caps of the grand Caucasus mountains. We provide transportation, guide, lunch and drinks.
